 Where Is The Compassion

Where Is The Compassion

What ails thee lass

Torn from Mother late at night
Fearful now and full of fright
Such loud noises and clanging chains
How can we stand the floor is moving
Cramped and pushed and prodded
Where is Mother, I can't see her
Oh please let me find her
Now we have stopped
And so has the clanging
Out we are shoved cold and wet
I see chutes dark and foreboding
Now somebody has switched on the lights
Please, Oh no, not that I beg you
Blood and guts are on the floor,
Freezing now I cry in torment
For I see Mother far ahead
Now I see her gentle head
But do not despair for she is with me
And here comes a Man with red hair
Get them out he shouts so loudly
Out the back and into the truck
What has happened we all are moving
Up the ramps we are pushed and shoved
Here comes Mother, Oh please help me
For I am barely six weeks old
A little calf like no other
Thin and weak from barren lands
Now the truck has stopped again
And I can see beyond the mist and rain
I cannot believe what lies ahead now
And open field with shelter on it
That red headed Man has bought us all
He is our Saviour of our Souls
He said out loudly
Nobody will kill you
For I my friends have bought you all

Valerie
