What ails thee lass
The drum
beat time shaking up the dust
The Indians danced amidst the dusk
Tom, tom,tom the beating called
Gather now we here the call
The horses were gathered by the corral
Each braided and roped in beautiful colors
The riders sprang like spring heeled jacks
And ever so lightly astride their backs
The joys of freedom across the plains
Mounted like Kings they all proclaimed
Glory to the lands we all can roam
Not fettered or chained, or owned
The grass was waving amidst the breeze
Those horses flew across the loam
Tanned and golden the warriors came
Painted and active they fought the pains
They never thought they were beaten
Never gave it a thought
For other nations had often wrought
Tried to rid the plains so free
Where bison, and buffalo roamed
But this you see was not to be
Even though time has passed
The message still lay in the grass
We as a species must conquer all
