How I
sigh when remembering
Breathing in the cool crisp air
Standing
on grassy banks
Gazing
at all around me
But
alone I stand and dream
How many
years has it been
Ten,
twenty or more so it seems
Then
laughter reigned and happiness
Gone
those dreams and far of years
But in
its wake I have much and more
Grand
children at least they were yours
My son
tall and lithe,Robert named as King
Like a
monarch you understood
Kind
considerate all these and more
Life is
good when it lasts
But
like passing clouds you stepped away
Into
eternity one rainy day
The
breeze has quickened the day is dark
I huddle
into my coat collar fast
Quickly
I hasten my steps
Back to
my retreat, Home at last
No one
now to cut the wood
Or tend
the trees and mow the lawns
Robert,
my Son, gone sweet one.
I have
aged and am ninety one
Valerie.
