A Smile For Cory
Little Cory looked out of the wi
Little Cory looked out of the windows
The day was cold, the snow was high
And little footprints were boldly there
Some of Robins, some of rabbits
And then came along a little Ratty
She watched with glee as he wandered by
Tail so long and looking spry
She wondered if his feet were cold
Little pink pads with toes so long
Suddenly he took off so very fast
For out of the bushes came old Ralph
Ralph was black and white and cunning
The little Rat just vanished fast
She watched in awe at his disappearance
So strange and quite uncanny
Where did he go was he a magician
He certainly wasn't in old Ralph's mouth
Cory got up from her armchair
Climbed upon the old bookcase
She tried to see where Rat had gone
Then went into the garden to have a look
She saw his footprints neat and tiny
She had to smile at his cunning
For there he sat in her dolls pram
Peeping out from behind teddy
Oh, she thought he looked so pretty
His little whiskers trembling there
Don't worry Ratty she whispered
I won't tell Ralph that you are there
And back into the kitchen Cory wandered
Back to the fire and cosy chair.
